The Dairy Museum

Museo-della-Latteria-(2)

The Social Dairy of Lozzo di Cadore was founded in 1884 and remained in operation until 1984: the abandonment of rural activities and cattle breeding, with the consequent transfer of milk to the dairy, caused the closure of the numerous social dairies.

Today in the spaces of the former social dairy a visitor is offered a museum to spread knowledge of the traditional procedure for processing cheese, butter and ricotta.

Volunteers and associations initially set up an exhibition for free, while in more recent times the new museum was inaugurated with the same findings reorganized and enriched with videos and photographs.
